2X LIDL STORES WITH SMOKE EXTRACT
Lidl Uxbridge Intu Shopping Centre, February 2019
Lidl St Anns Shopping Centre Harrow, October 2019
Alliance has completed two brand new supermarkets for Lidl within shopping centres requiring smoke extract systems. These add to Alliance’s breadth of Lidl project formats which include new-builds, new store fit-outs (both developer new-build and exiting retail formats) ‘store-on-stilts’ with under-croft parking, mixed-use with accommodation, and existing Lidl store full M&E modernisations.
Uxbridge and Harrow where amongst 18 new Lidl stores completed by Alliance during 2019, alongside other commercial and health projects. Both in experience and capacity it marks out Alliance as a premier provider of M&E services.
Shopping Centre applications present their own unique set of requirements including services within landlord’s back-of-house areas beyond the store. Plant is typically roof mounted with significant risers. And the client’s fire engineering review which typically highlight the need for Sprinklers and Smoke Control. All of which featured in these projects.
Uxbridge’s smoke vent extracts 13m3/s whilst St Anns, Harrow is 16m3/s. Fire-rated ductwork is run throughout the store and up to the roof level with fire-rated run & standby fans. The open ceiling format required services be given a uniform white finish to be less unobtrusive and yet maximizing store height and openness. Naturally these substantial extra services and sprinklers need to be coordinated with the all the other M&E services. With all M&E services being in-house, this is another aspect which makes the Alliance the perfect partner for such projects.
Result: Another two successful Alliance projects delivered safely, on schedule and setting a new benchmark for integration of services design and installation.
